About the San Juan Ghost Tour
The San Juan Ghost Tour by US Ghost Adventure provides a way to explore a 500-year-old city like San Juan from the legends and myths that make up the story of the cobblestone streets of the city. The tour takes place during the night, when San Juan takes a whole new vibe and you get to experience all these stories from another perspective. During the tour I took we were lucky enough to have an amazing tour guide like Carola, who shows a great love for the city and the tales around it.

What Are The Stops of the San Juan Ghost Tour?
Let’s explore the stops on the San Juan Ghost Tour. All of them mean something not only to the legends themselves but also to Puerto Rican history as a whole.
Start at Plaza Quinto Centenario

The tour meets at the famous Plaza del Quinto Centenario, or as we locals call it, “La Plaza del Totem”. This square is known for that totem and for many things that happened when it was being built during the early 90s. The square was built to celebrate the 500 years of the arrival of the Spanish troops in 1492.
Santa Maria Magdalena de Pazzi Cemetery

If there is a mythical place in Old San Juan is the Santa Maria Magdalena de Pazzi Cemetery. In this cemetery, most of the national heroes are buried. Poets, politicians, musicians, among other personalities are buried in this cemetery, making it an important location for Puerto Rican history.
El Morro
El Morro is the biggest fort in the Old San Juan area, and history tells us that death is part of its construction and development. As locals, we tend to have picnics even during the nighttime at the fields around the fort, but looking at it from the legend part changed the perspective a bit. I loved looking at the fort from this point of view.
Cuartel de Ballajá
El Cuartel de Ballajá used to be a prison during Spanish colonial times. Legend says that nowadays there are times when you can hear moaning in some of the rooms, and that is a reason why this is part of the tour.
La Casa Blanca
La Casa Blanca is known for being the place the first governor of Puerto Rico, Juan Ponce de Leon, built as his home but he died before being able to live there. His family had the chance to live there and, many claim that this place has some paranormal activity. There are a lot more details that I learned about Casa Blanca when I took the tour, and it is one of my favorite tales of the tour.
Hotel el Convento and the Cathedral
San Juan Cathedral and Hotel el Convento are historic places filled with legends and myths and this tour tells many of them. These are the two last stops of the tour and if you ask me, is a nice way to close it. Hotel El Convento, besides being one of the best hotels in San Juan, is also a place that could provide an experience for those who love spooky stories.
