I do not care if they are party hostels or are more relaxed; I like the personal vibe they usually give, the friends you get to meet, and even how awkward they might feel the first time you realize you are sleeping with a bunch of strangers.

I am glad I never had horror stories in any of them, not even really weird situations with other guests. I decided to list the best hostels in the world for me. All of them can be found on Hostelworld and Booking.com.
What Makes Them the Best Hostels In the World for Me?
I think it is all about the place’s vibe and what activities they offer to their guests. Those are the main things I look for when categorizing a hostel as one of the best hostels in the world. Another thing I might look up to is my own experience and memories. How did that hostel make me feel? How many friends have I made there?
At some point, these hostels gave me a better opinion of the cities they are located in. I know this is a completely subjective opinion, but according to my criteria and my memories, these are the best hostels in the world.
Little Italy Hostel – Perugia, Italy
I loved staying in this hostel. and is one of my favorite hostels because it has an amazing vibe, and its architecture makes you feel like what exactly is: an 11th-century structure! The staff is amazing and always willing to help. Emanuele, the owner, put a lot of effort into making everyone feel welcome and ensuring everything is always as neat and clean as shown in the pictures. Perugia is a small town, and they all give great tips for enjoying the city to the best of its ability.
The hotel has a mixed 12-bed room and free wifi all over it. It has an on-site bar at affordable prices. On Wednesday, they have a party at which they make food from different parts of the world and many students and young locals also join. Perugia is a College city and it has an international vibe. Its main feature is the Baci Chocolate Factory. Is a great place to make new friends who are local and international. I would recommend this hostel, which is also well located in the city’s center, to enjoy Perugia as you should. Little Italy Hotel is just 5 minutes from the center!
The Yellow – Rome, Italy
This hostel has a perfect location and is the best place to stay in Rome, in my opinion: Just four blocks from the Roma Termini station, within walking distance of many metro stations, and close to the most unique tours in Rome. They have a pretty ordered system and many rooms for everyone. Another thing that makes The Yellow special is having a bar right there. Many guests meet at night in the bar for a few drinks, and you get to meet a few people.
The good thing about this is that even though it can be considered a party hostel since it is so big, you have a great chance to rest if it’s what you’re looking for. The staff is fully bilingual, which is a plus if you’re in Italy.
I would recommend this hostel even if you’re not a hostel person. It has private rooms, and its location makes it the perfect place to go if you’re in Rome. These are all important reasons why I have chosen it as one of my favorite hostels.
Cinnamon Sally Backpackers – Riga, Latvia
This is one of the best hostels you can ever think of. The living room is usually the same as in the pictures. This hostel is right in front of Riga Central Station and a few blocks from Old Riga. One of the good things I found about it when I went was free beers and pub crawls. They also had free waffles for breakfast, so you have savings while in the city. The staff is helpful and willing to sit with you on the couch to listen and tell you stories.
The rooms are always cleaned, and the vibe makes you feel at home and like you have made a new family. Riga has a great hostel scene, but I will return to Cinnamon Sally any day! Another thing, but pretend I didn’t tell you this: on its first floor, there’s a McDonalds open late where you can quench late-night cravings! All of this makes this one of my favorite hostels in the world.
Slottskogen Youth Hostel, Gothenburg, Sweden
Slottskogen Youth Hostel is very special for me and one of my favorite hostels since is the hostel where I have made the most friends and I have a few amazing stories to tell. Slottskogen is very well located in Gothenburg next to Slottskogen Park, which is the place where you can find the city’s Natural History Museum and the Zoo. It’s a few tram stations away from the center and the Liseberg amusement park, one of the city’s main spots. It is also near Linnegatan, a street with a few nice bars.
Gothenburg is a college city as well, and it has a lot of international students and great places to hang out beyond the art, the canals, and definitely, the Volvo Museum. As I said when I began, this hostel’s vibe makes it amazing to make new friends. If you’re visiting Sweden some time, don’t forget this magic word: Systembolaget, the state liquor store. Sometimes, the best way to hang out is to buy a bottle and stay in the hostel, making new friends.

I have to recommend Generator hostel- in whichever city you can find it. It’s perfect to every detail. Seems pretty new. The interior designer did an amazing job. It’s like a private hotel- but it’s a hostel. I stayed on Venice. There are around 5 if them in Europe.
